The definition of respiration you give here is the of biochemical one, also called internal respiration, which is related to oxidative phosphorylation of nutrients. However physiologists also use the term but in a different regard. Here it is used to describe the process of transporting atmospheric oxygen to the mitochondria. Still I agree with you, that gas exchange would be more correct in this actual context, because what happen is a delivery of CO2 and uptake of O2 by RBC.

This is an excellent video for the most part, but if you are using it for revision purposes there is one error that you need to be aware of. Around the end of the third minute it says that the alveolar surface/capillary is 'where respiration takes place'. Respiration is a chemical process that happens in all of our cells. I think what she meant was gaseous exchange. This is a really common error and one which costs points in many exams!

My daughter's in a high-level coma, and they put her on a ventilator.

My doctor will not even give me something to help me quit, just tells me to just quit smoking, and that they really don't work anyway, You have to want to quit and that stuff will not work. YOu must want to quit first. Will Power.

She told me that it will not get better because the damage is already done, but she said at least it will not get any worse,,, Is that part true, scared that it still can be worse later, or even get cancer. YOu think I needs 2nd opinion.

I dont know your fixation with helicopters but Im sure many remote areas require an air crew such examples would be if theres a call to pick up a stranded hiker in a remote mountain or something.
My sister is an RT and the pay here in New York City for an entry level is $55,000
Good luck!

Why are nurses so ... By: joelseff. on 30 Sep 08, 05:45:24 Why are nurses so elitist? I get the same response when I tell them I am going to PA school. Nursing is NOT for everyone. I have worked with RN's that should've done something else. Chillax nurses, dont worry noone will knock you off your thrones especially due to your large lobby. Ever consider the fact that not everyone wants to wipe dookie all day???

but there will ... By: asiafan90. on 19 Apr 08, 04:42:15 but there will probably be a waiting list. RT's like most in careers in the medical field will not ever be subject to a rise and fall in the economy. Additionally,Hawaii (since you are interested) is one of two states who don't require licensure..but really, taking both the cert test and RRT is a must to make the big$..and be respected..and just type in respiratory therapist in careerbuilder ..with no state or city..same with monster..TONS of jobs all over the country..
well I would say ... By: asiafan90. on 19 Apr 08, 04:39:02 well I would say that if you go to an accelerated school like I do, which is a 4 hour a day, 5 days a week from 8 to noon...to devote much of your time after school reading, doing homework and not having much of a life. I just keep in mind that it's not forever. Also, make lots of note cards for each test. If you go to a community college you will have bigger class sizes but it won't be as accelerated which might be better for you...
